I’m so excited to tell you about this piano sheet music app I’ve been using recently. If you haven’t been feeling like practicing lately or you’re struggling to find inspiring music to learn, this may be just the thing you need to boost your piano practice motivation! This app is SO fun (and a bit addictive) that I’ve been spending hours on it every night and neglecting my chores :/

ABOUT THE APP
Ok, this mysterious app is called Tomplay. You’ve probably heard of it, like me, but I finally tried it and I was impressed!
So what is Tomplay? It’s an ever-growing catalog of sheet music with over 80,000 songs from all genres, from classical to popular, and all levels from beginning to advanced. My favorite feature is that you can play along with quality recordings of orchestras and professional musicians. So you can play duets with a cello, violin, flute, etc.
SIMPLIFIED PIANO ARRANGEMENTS
An exciting thing about this app is the simplified arrangements. So, if you can’t play the original of a piece like Debussy’s Clair de Lune or Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, there’s a lot of beautiful simplified arrangements to choose from. You can preview and listen to the first page of any arrangement before downloading the music.
ORIGINAL PIANO SOLOS
There’s also thousands of original piano solos and advanced piano arrangements. So this app is designed for beginning, elementary, intermediate, and advanced pianists.

QUALITY SHEET MUSIC
One thing I WAS concerned about is the quality of the sheet music. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has decent fingering and articulation markings (slurs, and staccatos). I compared the Tomplay sheet music with my preferred editions of Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin. There aren’t pedal markings in most of the Tomplay scores. So if you are preparing for a performance or competition, you should learn your piece from a good edition, so you play with tasteful articulations and pedaling.
